Phuket is a great destination for any vacation, but when you go, you really want to make the most of the experience, and for that you need to know when the best time of year is to travel. There are several things that you need to think about when deciding, and the first one is the weather.

Phuket has a tropical climate, which means that it is never really cold by most standards, instead it varies from hot to mile temperatures, but it is the rain that is the deciding factor with weather. From June to October it is monsoon season, and while it is still possible to get great weather, the chance of rain is much higher. However, while the crowds avoid rainy season, you should not, it’s a great way to experience Phuket when it is a little quieter, and that rain? It can be a 5-minute downpour with the rest of the day being glorious, sunny weather, never getting too hot and perfect for adventuring! It doesn’t rain every day either, so there is much to recommend with less crowds, and on top of all that, its cheaper to visit Phuket during this period too. Some may think it’s a time to avoid, but for those in the know, Phuket in rainy season is a great wat to save money and have even more fun.

So for many, avoiding that June to October rainy season is a priority, and that leaves two other weather periods to choose from. November to February is the coolest time of the year in Phuket, and that means temperatures around 25´C/77´F. This is the most popular time to visit Phuket, the weather is nice, and the temperatures are comfortable. The other period is March to June, and this is the hottest period of the year in Phuket, with temperatures reaching 35´C/95´F, along with high humidity, which can be a little to warm for some tastes.

However, weather is not the only factor, for instance, April sees the Songkran Festival celebrating Thai New Year, and it’s a wonderful experience, and one of the reasons that April is a popular time to visit. The other factor is cost, and you can often save significant money by visiting Phuket during the rainy season, and you may have great weather while you are there too.

November to February remains the most expensive time to visit, and its also the most corded, which is another thing to consider. During the May to October rainy season, there are less visitors, meaning you get to enjoy the benefits of Phuket without the crowds that are going to be there if you travel at other times.

While you are sure of the best weather if you travel from November to February, and hot weather and festivals from February to May, depending on what you want from Phuket you may have just as good a time going during rainy season and avoiding the crowds. That choice will be one you have to make. However, it is important to know that Phuket really is a year round destination, and whenever you go, you will have a fantastic time, and we are sure you will want to return again and again.
